The Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, Dr Betta C Edu, has extended financial support to the 14 rescued students of the Federal University Gusau in Zamfara State.
In a statement issued on Wednesday in Gusau by the Director of Information for Zamfara State’s Humanitarian and Relief Matters, Bashir Kabiru Ahmed, Zamfara State Government, through the State Humanitarian and Relief Matters, has expressed its appreciation for the Minister’s generous act.
“Zamfara State Commissioner of Humanitarian and Relief Matters, Honourable Salisu Musa Tsafe, confirmed that the Minister provided each of the 14 rescued female students with a sum of N214,285.”
The Commissioner explained that the Minister, during her official visit to Zamfara for the formal commissioning of 40 housing units for Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) in Gusau, also paid a sympathy visit to the students at the Federal University Gusau.
Salisu Musa Tsafe further detailed that the 14 students hail from various states, including Kogi, Katsina, Kaduna, Lagos, Oyo, Cross River, and Zamfara.
He assured that the strong relationship between Governor Dauda Lawal’s administration and the Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, under the leadership of Honourable Minister Betta C Edu, will continue to have a positive impact on the victims of humanitarian challenges in the state.
He also expressed his gratitude to the management of the Federal University Gusau and the parents of the students for their collaborative efforts in ensuring support for the students.
The Nigerian Tribune recalls that the students were rescued shortly after their abduction and have since resumed their studies at the Federal University Gusau in the state.
