Yaduma’s appointment, demonstration of true federalism – Adamawa APC chairman

Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Adamawa State, Barrister Idris Shuaibu, has described the appointment of Zacharia Yaduma as Director-General of the Forestry Research Institute of Nigeria (FRIN), being the first person from northern Nigeria to occupy the position, as a demonstration of true federalism.

Idris, who is also Board Chairman of the Federal College of Animal Health and Production Technology, made the remark during a courtesy visit to FRIN headquarters in Ibadan on Friday.

He was accompanied by some state executive members of APC and the provost of Federal College of Animal Health and Production Technology, Dr Owosibo Adekoya.

Idris said, “A man of my party in Adamawa State and a strong member has been appointed to this critical assignment. We decided to pay a visit as a demonstration of support from APC in Adamawa State. We are working together to ensure that the Renewed Hope agenda of Mr President is attained.”

Describing Yaduma as a dependable and cooperative party member, the APC chairman added, “We know that he is a man of integrity and we know his capacity. Give him a job and he will do it with utmost sincerity and full commitment.

“Coming here, we see that the management is cooperating with him.”

Idris urged the management of FRIN to continue to support the DG, adding, “we will do what we can at our level to lift the standard of this institution.”

Yaduma, on his part, expressed delight over the visit of the APC chairman and his executives.
He praised the management team at FRIN for accepting him and cooperating with him.

He said, “I am the first alumnus and the first northerner to be DG of FRIN. Yet they embraced me. They are my brothers and sisters. They’ve been so cooperative with me.”

Yaduma was appointed DG in 2023, exactly 40 years after leaving the Federal College of Forestry Ibadan as a student in 1983.
