The Women Wing Christian Association of Nigeria (WOWICAN), Southwest Zone, said that the 10th anniversary of the association would centre more on the empowerment of women, awards presentations, and the investiture of dignitaries.
The four-in-one event with the theme “Repositioning Women for Growth and Development” is billed to commence from August 14 to 17 at the Apostolic Church of Nigeria, LAWNA Territory, Olorunda Ketu, Lagos State.
WOWICAN Southwest Chairperson, Most Senior Mother-in-Israel, Prophetess Odunola Raji-Adebesin, said the theme was influenced by the situation in the country and prevailing outdated perceptions about women’s roles, stressing that the dignity of women deserves due recognition and positive appraisal.
“Without mincing a word, the position of women in any social organisation cannot be underrated and overestimated because, by divine work of God, women are so important because of their meaningful contributions to the success of any association, organisation, family, church, and communities.
“Women are precious ornaments and magnificent creatures that are always ready to sacrifice whatever they have for the growth and development of wherever they find themselves. Hence, the need for them to be duly recognised,” Raji-Adebesin.
She also advised leaders at all levels to consider women in decision-making, especially in the sharing of positions, either political or spiritual, because what a man can do, a woman can do better.
Also, she expressed her worry about the state of the nation, saying, “The state of our nation is extremely bad. I want to advise the President to stand firm and take decisive steps in alleviating the suffering of the people, especially in terms of hunger, unemployment, and security.”WOWICAN Southwest to empower and celebrate women’s 10th anniversary.
