He, however, expressed assurance that the country would return to the agreement, saying that majority of the climate change researchers are from the US.
Arowolo, who teaches at the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB), said the world would suffer from the withdrawal if it remains.
“Trump’s withdrawal is International politics and a move to honour his electioneering campaign promises. The anticipated climate change is real. What he (Trump) has done is wrong, Europe, Asia and the World know that what Trump has done is wrong.
“I know USA her still coming back because all the researchers are from the country. We are going to suffer it if He didn’t return to honour the agreement,” he added.
He stated this during a media chat organised by the Ogun State Ministry of Environment to commemorate the 2017 World Environment Day with the theme “Connecting People with Nature”.
The environmental expert urged African leaders to do more to protect the environment from impending destruction due to continuous depletion of ozone layer through industrial activities of man and the quest by developed countries to explore other planets, especially Mars, for alternative habitation.
He noted that some other developing countries of the world are spending enormous resources to find another planet that is habitable, submitting that Africa and indeed Nigeria are not putting any effort in place to find another habitable planet.
In his remarks, the State Commissioner for Environment, Bolaji Oyeneye, said government had begun process to seal off erring industries and sanction investors who failed to obey the environmental laws.
He advised companies who have manufacturing plants that degrade environment with toxic wastes, injurious fumes and emission emanating from their plants to control it.
