As Year 2024 gradually grinds to a halt, a management expert, and Managing Director, Sub-Saharan Africa, Project Management Institute (PMI), George Asamani, has urged practitioners in the field to join a professional organization to enable them advance their careers and stay relevant more than ever in 2025.
He believed professional organisations would be a key factor in Y2025 since they are rooted in shared knowledge, mentorship, and collaboration.
Asamani also believed such organizations allow members to develop crucial interpersonal skills, such as communication, empathy, emotional intelligence, and teamwork, through authentic connections.
The PMI boss argued further that through networking events, webinars, and peer learning, organisations like the PMI foster environments where these skills are naturally honed.
Asamani noted that as work continues to evolve, so does the value of a professional community that supports continuous learning and growth.
“In 2025, if you want to stand out and advance in your career, joining a professional organisation is a powerful way to adapt and stay relevant,” he stated.
Citing PMI’s Global Megatrends 2024, which warns that nearly half of today’s workforce skills could become outdated within two years due to advancements like generative AI, Asamani believed such rapid evolution underscores the critical need for continuous up-skilling as job requirements shift.
“In this environment, up-skilling and re-skilling will feel like “running in place” as technologies like AI reshape industries. Professionals must continuously develop their skill sets to stay relevant,” he stated.”
For Asamani, professional organisations play a pivotal role here, since they equip members with essential tools, training, and certifications to navigate ongoing changes. He also believed such organisations ensure members keep pace with demands, making relevance and adaptability achievable in an era of accelerating innovation.
