Founder of Top Up and Get Reward (TGR) Ltd, Mr Adesayo Babatunde, has said that the outfit has reduced the rate of unemployment in Nigeria.

Speaking at the 5th anniversary of TGR held at Mauve 21, Ibadan, on Thursday, Adesayo revealed that the organisation has used entrepreneurs and technology in the Nigerian business community, to reduce poverty through even distribution of economic wealth to all partners.

He said over the five years, TGR has added value not only to its members but also to the Nigerian economy; leveraging on the ICT sector as a crucial tool to changing the lives of many Nigerians by empowering them to use our telecommunication and utility bill payment platform as a means of financial stability.

According to the Chief Executive Officer of TGR, members of the outfit are waxing stronger on a daily basis.

He stated that within the first five years of operation, TGR has partnered with all major telecommunications companies, banks and electricity distribution companies, in order to boost their operations.

He also pledged that TGR would give more values to integrity, transparency, openness and sustainability on its discharge.

“In today’s globalised world, connectivity schemes are about forging ahead and making connections for businesses to thrive. We stand on the principles of the new era, where innovations and technology are driving transformation at an unprecedented pace.

“So, TGR has designed digitalised technology tools to solve the world’s most pressing social and environmental problems with the objective of attaining financial freedom and job security in life for the Nigerian people and the global community.

“In 2022, TGR was recognised by the former Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Dr Isa Ali Ibrahim Pantami, who gave us recommendations for our services to the community. I am also using this opportunity to appreciate all those who have won awards in TGR and made us proud,” Adesayo said.

In his remarks, former Minister of Communications, Barrister Adebayo Shittu, challenged the state government to engage in skills training for the youth.

He said governments at all levels have a lot to do to reduce the rate of unemployment through skills acquisition and reorientate them not to look for white-collar jobs, adding that TGR has reduced the rate of unemployment in the country.

“Our society will be a better place if similar institutions, organisations come up with noble innovative ideas. The Nigeria population is more than 200 million, there is nothing anybody tries to introduce in Nigeria that does not have ready market waiting, it is only if you cannot think that you remain poor. Poverty is not the destiny of anyone,” Shittu who was chairman of the occasion said.
