The Kogi State Government has reaffirmed its zero-tolerance approach to banditry, stating that it does not negotiate with criminals but takes the fight directly to their hideouts.
Hon. Ismaila Isah, the Special Adviser on Media to Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo, made this known during a media parley at the NUJ Press Centre in Kaduna.
“We don’t have time to negotiate with bandits. We take the fight to them inside the bush,” he said.
Highlighting Governor Ododo’s security initiatives, Isah stated that the government has donated 300 vehicles and 1,000 special motorbikes to security agencies to enhance operations against bandits.
He also noted that Kogi State collaborates with neighboring states, including Kwara, Ondo, and Ekiti, in the fight against insecurity.
To further strengthen security, the government has employed over 10,000 vigilantes and hunters to support military and paramilitary forces.

On governance, Isah emphasized the administration’s commitment to inclusive leadership, ensuring opportunities for youths, women, and people with disabilities.
“Our governor recently received awards as the Best Governor in Governance and Agriculture, which are clear indicators that we are on the right track,” he added.
He disclosed that within the past year, the Ododo administration has constructed and rehabilitated 465km of roads across 21 local government areas, with an additional 165km of rural roads connecting 80 communities to improve farmers’ access to markets.
Efforts to boost agriculture are also in full swing, with the government acquiring 25 to 50 hectares of land and refurbishing 150 tractors for farmers.
“So far, ₦10 billion has been invested in this year’s farming season to tackle food security challenges,” Isah revealed.
