In his effort to ensure a safe society, the former governor of Sokoto State, Senator (Dr) Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko, handed over ten Toyota Hilux motor vehicles to the Sokoto State Police Command on Wednesday to boost security operations.
The Senator, while handing over the vehicles to the command, commended the police’s efforts in maintaining peace and called for continued efforts in making Sokoto State safe.
The presentation of the vehicles took place at the premises of the Command Headquarters.
Speaking while receiving the vehicles, the state Commissioner of Police, CP Ahmed Musa, on behalf of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, commemorated the significant occasion of the presentation of motor vehicles for the esteemed Command.
He said, “This unwavering support and generosity underscore the critical importance of collaborative efforts between law enforcement agencies and government leadership in advancing our collective mission of serving and safeguarding the people of Sokoto State.
“The provision of these motor vehicles symbolises more than just a mode of transportation; it represents a tangible investment in the capabilities and morale of our dedicated police officers, enhancing their operational efficiency and response readiness.
“The significance of this initiative extends far beyond the motor vehicles themselves; it speaks volumes to the profound impact that strategic partnerships and community support can have on the effectiveness and vitality of our law enforcement efforts.
“As we embrace this new year of enhanced mobility and operational capacity, I urge my fellow police officers to embrace these motor vehicles as tools of service excellence.
“Let us wield them with pride, professionalism, and a steadfast commitment to upholding the values of integrity, accountability, and respect for the rule of law. Let us also leverage this significant investment to forge even stronger bonds with the communities we serve, fostering trust, cooperation, and mutual respect.”
The Commissioner extended his sincere appreciation to the Senator for his visionary leadership and steadfast commitment to supporting the Force.
“May this day mark the beginning of a new chapter of progress, prosperity, and partnership as we march forward in our shared mission of safeguarding the lives and properties of all Sokoto residents.
“Like Oliver Twist, we seek more of this gesture to support us in carrying out our duties effectively.”
