These days, there is more talk of impossibilities than possibilities. The possibility of succeeding seems very elusive, hence, the wind of impossibility is blowing strongly. The possibility which seems very likely these days are possibilities of evil – terrorism, plagues, death, scarcity… Everywhere you go these days ,there seems to be an air of negativity and impossibilities.
We must, however, not allow the prevailing negative atmosphere to overwhelm us. We must learn to see the possibility of making our lives count. We must pursue our dreams and live our lives with possibility in view.
“If I were to wish for anything, I should not wish for wealth and power, but for the passionate sense of the potential, for the eye which, ever young and ardent, sees the possible. Pleasure disappoints, possibility never. And what wine is so sparkling, what so fragrant, what so intoxicating, as possibility!” —Soren Kierkegaard
We must consciously choose to live and operate in the realm of possibilities rather that in the realm of doubt, fear and impossibilities.
“Become a possibilitarian. No matter how dark things seem to be or actually are, raise your sights and see possibilities – always see them, for they’re always there.” —Norman Vincient Peale
If we are going to operate in the realm of possibilities we must be armed with the right information. We must position ourselves to receive, decipher, interpret and effectively utilise right information. Information always presents us with options, choices and possibilities. The right information is always an eye-opener.
A man without information is a bankrupt man who is set for a life of insignificance. Possibility always gets kick-started by information. Each of us is where we are today mainly because of the information we have been exposed to and the information we have acted on or refused to act on.
If we are to walk in the realm of possibilities we must be open to receive information. This is simple common sense.
“The intelligent man is open to new ideas. In fact, he looks for them”. Proverbs 18:15 (Living Bible).
We get information in two main ways: the information we already know and secondly, knowing where to get information we don’t know. When we embrace the right information as we ought to, it will always spark off the process of thinking. It makes us think. It makes us reflect. Whenever we receive information, we spark off a series of actions, thoughts, options, sceneries, ideas, concepts and choices, which if well processed and channeled, will culminate in a decision. Every accomplishment and achievement is the by-product of information processed and acted on to form a decision.
“Decision is a sharp knife that cuts or to do anything, never to turn back or to stop until the thing intended was clean and straight; indecision, a dull one that hacks and tears and leaves ragged edges behind it.” —Gordon Graham
Decisions are the conscious acts and resolutions reached after information is considered. Information is useless until it results in the determined, unwavering firm decisions. Information that, therefore, will lead to possibilities must be carefully thought over, weighed, considered and translated into decisions – making a judgment on what to do with information.

Information aids decision making but decisions must be translated into actions for possibilities to happen.
“Decision is the spark that ignites action. Until a decision is made, nothing happens. Decision is the courageous facing of issues, knowing that if they are not faced, problems will remain forever unanswered.” Wilfred A. Peterson
“Be willing to make decisions. That’s the most important quality in a good leader. Don’t fall victim to what I call the Ready- Aim-Aim-Aim Syndrome. You must be willing to fire.” T. Boone Pickens
Life only works for people who are decisive and only decisive people will have influence and affluence.
“An expert is someone who has succeeded in making decisions and judgements simpler through knowing what to pay attention to and what to ignore.” Edward de Bono

Stepping into possibilities Part 2
Last time we began looking at the issue of possibilities. We saw the fact that these days possibility is a word that is going out of fashion. The possibility of succeeding seems very elusive hence the wind of impossibility is blowing strongly. The possibility which seems very likely these days are possibilities of evil – terrorism, plagues, death, scarcity . . .everywhere you go these days there seems to be an air negatively and impossibilities.
To walk in the realm of possibilities we must acquire relevant information in our chosen field and make quality decisions.
Peterson
Indecision amplifies doubt which makes possibilities look impossible – it makes the possible impossible.
“Do not plant your dreams in the field of indecision, where nothing ever grows but the weeds of “what-if.” Dodinsky
If we are going to live and operate in the realm of possibilities we must learn to acquire information that tallies with our desires/dreams and then make quality decisions that will facilitate the execution of our dreams.
Indecision is a vice we must avoid if we are to walk and operate in possibilities. Indecision is a killer of possibilities.
Indecision is the inability to make a decision quickly. It is the reluctance or inability to make up our minds. It is being irresolute. Indecision is hanging in the balance not being able to make a choice. An indecisive person stays on the fence and will never take a stand in moving himself forward into possibilities. “It doesn’t matter which side of the fence you get off on sometimes. What matters most is getting off. You cannot make progress without making decisions.” Jim Rohn
The fear of failure is usually the cause of most indecisions. An indecisive person thinks that as long as he doesn’t make a choice he is safe. There is no fallacy as this. Safety is not always guaranteed by not doing anything. In life we have no guarantees against failure. The fact that we fail does not mean we are a failure. We must always see failure as an educational incident.
“Problems are the greatest reflection of possibilities to be and that failures are the best teachers in the world.” Catherine Pulsifer
Indecision is usually characterized by procrastination. It is trying to do later what should be done immediately. Many times, decisions must be made when the iron is hot. To unnecessarily delay or postpone decisions can be counter-productive. Also another reason why majority of people don’t live and operate in possibilities is the inability to handle obstacles and challenges that rear their ugly heads in the path of possibility.
Life is never a smooth road that leads effortlessly to our dream land. We must do all we can to overcome whatever stands between us and our God-ordained dreams and desires. Life doesn’t just happen. No pain, no gain. No battle, no victory. No examination, no promotion. No labour, no child birth. No cross, no crown.
“I am willing to put myself through anything; temporary pain or discomfort means nothing to me as long as I can see that the experience will take me to a new level. I am interested in the unknown, and the only path to the unknown is through breaking barriers, an often-painful process.” Diana Nyad
Whenever we hit the road block of obstacles and hindrances on the path of possibilities we must never shrink back and give up but we must be resolute to see we can deal with them and move on. Every problem always has a solution waiting to be discovered and once we are on the right track we are assured of arriving at the destination… it’s just a matter of time.
“If one advances confidently in the direction of his dreams, and endeavors to live the life which he has imagined, he will meet with a success unexpected in common hours.” Henry David Thoreau

STEPPING INTO POSSIBILITIES Part 3
We have been looking at the issue of possibilities. We have seen that these days possibility is a word that is going out of fashion. The possibility of succeeding seems very elusive hence the wind of impossibility is blowing strongly. A life lived devoid of or deficient with a good dose of possibilities is a life that is bound to be lived in frustration. Life looks bleak and tough and a major key to having headway is to walk in possibilities. For life to make any meaning it must be looked at from the perspective of possibilities else life is not worth much. We have our future laid out before us and to make it worthwhile we must see things right so we can act right.
“The future is simply infinite possibility waiting to happen. What it waits on is human imagination to crystallize its possibility.” Leland Kaiser
Possibilities do not just happen. It demands taking some conscious and intelligent actions. To walk in the realm of possibilities we must acquire relevant information in our chosen field and make quality decisions.
“Not having the information you need when you need it leaves you wanting. Not knowing where to look for that information leaves you powerless. In a society where information is king, none of us can afford that.” Lois Horowitz
When we effectively use information we are better equipped to make quality decisions which is the doorway to walking in possibilities.
Decisions are the conscious acts and resolutions reached after information is considered. Information is useless until it results in the determined, unwavering firm decisions.
We must have a strong sense of a compelling mission driving our desire to walk in possibilities. No excuse, no obstacle, no limit, no barrier should be big enough to stop us if we are resolved to live and operate in possibilities.
“One must have the adventurous daring to accept oneself as a bundle of possibilities and undertake the most interesting game in the world – making the most of one’s best.” Harry Emerson Fosdick
Possibilities get facilitated by our association. Our relationship will determine how far we will go in life. The people we closely associate with will determine if we will be characterized by possibilities or excuses.
“He that walketh with wise men shall be wise: but a companion of fools shall be destroyed.” Proverbs 13:20.
Influence travels on the vehicle of relationships hence no relationship is neutral. We must consciously associate with people who speak and motivate us to live and operate in possibilities. We must surround ourselves with people who challenge us to break barriers and set records.
Whatever dream or desire God puts in your heart is possible and the world is waiting for its manifestation. There is more to you than you have seen or experienced.
“Compared to what we ought to be, we are only half awake. We are making use of only a small part of our physical and mental resources. Stating the thing broadly, the human individual thus lives far within his limits. He possesses power of various sorts which he habitually fails to use.” Williams James
We do not have to wait for the ideal time to get things done . . . most times time the best time to move forward with your dream is yesterday and the next best time is now.
“Start by doing what’s necessary; then do what’s possible; and suddenly you are doing the impossible.” St. Francis of Assisi
Usually there are no guarantees but all we need do is to take a leap of faith and do what we ought to do.
“You do not need to know precisely what is happening, or exactly where it is all going. What you need is to recognize the possibilities and challenges offered by the present moment, and to embrace them with courage, faith and hope.” Thomas Merton
