A member representing Surulere Constituency 1 in the Lagos State House of Assembly, Honourable Desmond Elliot, was moved to tears on Monday following the resignation of Honourable Mojisola Meranda as Speaker.
Tribune Online reports that Meranda announced her resignation earlier on Monday.
Reacting to the development, Elliot, overwhelmed with emotion, struggled to hold back tears.
While attempting to deliver a farewell message to Meranda, he found it difficult to articulate his thoughts and eventually returned to his seat in distress.

Following her resignation, Mudashiru Obasa was reinstated as Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly during Monday’s session.
Noheem Adams nominated Obasa to fill the vacant position, and Akinsanya Nureni seconded the motion.
On the same day, Meranda returned to her role as Deputy Speaker of the Assembly.
