Clocks in the United States were set forward by one hour early Sunday morning, marking the start of daylight saving time for 2025.
Daylight saving time (DST), also referred to as summer time, involves adjusting clocks one hour ahead during certain months of the year, usually in the spring and summer.
The time change took place at 2 a.m. on March 9, moving ahead to 3 a.m., marking the shift to longer evenings and shorter mornings.
However, beyond the United States, many countries around the world also observe daylight saving time.

According to the Pew Research Center, outside the U.S., most of the countries that observe daylight saving time are in Europe. France, Italy, Spain, Germany, the United Kingdom and Switzerland are among the countries where it is practiced.
Daylight saving time is also observed in some parts of Canada and Australia. In Africa, Egypt is the only country that observes it.
However, it is worth noting that Hawaii, most of Arizona, and some U.S. territories such as American Samoa, Guam, the Northern Mariana Islands, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands do not observe daylight saving time.
