Understanding Nigeria’s cultural differences can bring the desired change ― Ibru

Nigerians have been urged to understand and appreciate the cultural differences existing in the country as doing so would enable them accomplish the desired positive change they all crave for.
Founder, S T & T International School, Ikeja, Maggie Ibru, gave this admonition while speaking during a press conference to herald this year’s edition of the school’s annual cultural festival, slated to hold on Friday, 10th of February, 2017.
Ibru said the purpose of the event was to expose the students to various cultures around the world and to enable them see and appreciate the beauty in cultural diversities, noting that the cultural festival was the school’s brainchild
According her, the festival is the school’s brainchild meant for showcasing different cultures from around the world.
She said this year edition of the festival would come with a difference, as it was expected to take a deeper meaning and serve a bigger purpose.
“Among the seven houses, four have been given specific countries, deemed to be important and instrumental in what is going on in today’s world.
“The remaining three will focus on ethnic groups in our country because we must teach and remind our students that before anything else, we are proudly Nigerians and we are very rich in culture.
“Since the beginning of the term, students, in their respective houses, have had to learn the music, the dance, the food and the outfits of these countries by researching their history and traditions,” she said.
The head teacher, Ngozi Nwadialo, expressed optimism that not only this year’s cultural festival parade was going to be a remarkable one to marvel at, but also the food and the intercontinental buffet.
