An octogenarian and member of the Board of Trustees of the University of Ibadan Alumni Association (UIAA) National body, Mrs Maureen Bakare has distanced herself from a publication of her alleged position as a chairperson of a fundraising committee set up by the Chairman of the Lagos State branch of the UIAA, Dr Salau Folaranmi, having not given her consent for such an appointment.
Mrs Maureen Bakare disclosed this in her reaction to a publication by Dr Salau Folaranmi, in the Nigerian Tribune newspaper of 14th September 2023 titled “UI Lagos Branch Alumni Association distances self from fundraising letter” wherein Dr Salau alleged that a committee chaired by herself and Mrs Maiden Ibru had been set up.
In her disclaimer in the same Nigerian Tribune newspaper which was published in Spetember 22, 2023, Mrs Bakare demanded a retraction of the said misleading publication and a public apology by Dr Salau Folaranmi. She publicly stated that the publication in the Nigerian Tribune of 14th September 2023 does not represent true facts as it concerns her.

She urged the members of the public to disregard the news, claiming that she, Mrs Maureen Bakare is not a chairperson of the fundraising committee set up by the Chairman, the UIAA Lagos Branch.
