The chairman of the committee of UI Mates and Friends group, Kolawole Amusat-Gbenla has called on the Nigerian government to address the issue of acute unfavourable policies ravaging the economy of the country.
Amusat-Gbenla noted that the brunt of the economic policies is strongly felt by people who are financially weak among the citizenry.
Amusat-Gbenla made this advocacy call at UI Mates and Friends’ first maiden hangout at Ogun state.
The Chairman, Amusat-Gbenla noted that creating avenues for transparency will attract more investment and therefore boost the overall economy of the country.
The climax of the UI Friends and Mates hangout was the visit to the orphanage home where various items were distributed to the children.
The group leveraged the opportunity to extend love to the less privileged in society.
The UI Friends and Mates group hopes to continue with such philanthropic activities by reaching out to more orphanages in other western states, with improved packages.
The hangout was a strategy adopted to reconnect after two decades of graduating from the university and the location of the celebration, Abeokuta was chosen due to its tourism and ambience.
Kolawole Amusat-Gbenla is a development expert with a special interest in disaster, risk management, climate change adapters and sustainable development.
He and the members of UI mates and friends group are alumni of the University of Ibadan.
