Following the national broadcast by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the Executive Director of Patriot for Advancement of Peace and Social Development, Dr. Sani Abdullahi Shinkafi, has disclosed that the issue of insecurity was not addressed by the President.
He said insecurity is what brought food insecurity, saying there is a need to address issues squarely.
Shinkafi in an interview on Sunday, said the President’s address to the nation has not addressed some issues raised by the protestors.
“Like the issue of insecurity, especially in the northern region, which the North-West is under siege by armed bandits. Also in the Northeast for the past one and half decades, they are under attack by Boko Haram, ISWAP,” he lamented
According to him, the issue of insecurity is what contributed to food insecurity, “a lot of people were displaced, rendered homeless, they can’t go to their farmlands,80 percent of the land in the North-West are not cultivated this year, especially in Zamfara state, ” he said.
He further stressed that no country can rest without addressing issues, adding that Tinubu needed to address some issues squarely.
The executive director maintained that Governors are part of the problems, saying there was a need to checkmate their financial recklessness.
“Mr president also needs to address Bad governance, linkages, inflation and cost of governance”.
He said there is a need for the president to tell the protesters how he is blocking linkages,” Mr president blocked linkages at centre while state governors are unlocking the linkages, using state allocation for their personal use thereby enriching themselves.”
Shinkafi further revealed that most of the agitation by protesters in northern Nigeria is not talking about the removal of fuel subsidy, but they have more emphasis on insecurity bedevilled their areas.
