NO fewer than three unidentified persons were crushed to death in a ghastly motor accident in Jos North Local Government Area of Plateau State on Wednesday.
Tribune Online learnt the unfortunate incident occurred at Polo roundabout of the local government when a driver of a trailer conveying Malta Guinness suddenly lost control due to brake failure on approaching the busy round about.
It was gathered that in the process of trying to controlling the vehicle, the driver rammed into many cars and eventually hit a bullion van before it plunged into the big round about.
A source close to the scene of the incident disclosed that three people were killed in the bullion van while six other people whose cars were damaged sustained injuries.
According to eye witness, “The incident happened at about 1:43 pm when the driver of the trailer lost control and and damaged several cars in an attempt to to bring the vehicle to a halt. From my assessment no fewer than seven cars were damaged. The situation was further compounded by the heavy down pour of rain.
“Instantly one of the security men inside the bullion van and two others were killed while six others who sustained various degree of injuries were taken to the Bingham University Teaching Hospital close to the scene of the incident.” He said.
Attempt to confirm the incident from the State Police Public Relation Officer, Terna Tyopev proved abortive but when Tribune Online got to the scene of the incident, there was a traffic gridlock occasioned by the incident while men of the FRSC were struggling to remove the wreckage and clear the road.
