He emphasised that the institution would not compromise its hard-earned impressive image for damaging misconduct from any student.
Fawole gave the warning in his address at the 2017/2018 matriculation of the polytechnic last week Thursday.
“Female students are not allowed to wear skimpy dresses that will expose their thighs or blouses that will expose their breasts or other sensitive parts of their bodies.
“The institution also disallows male students from putting on suggestive dresses or wearing of ear rings and weaving of hair,” he stressed.
He disclosed that out of the over 15,768 applicants who made the polytechnic either their first or second choice and the 7,961 candidates who sought admission into the Higher National Diploma programme of the institution, only few were admitted.
Fawole described The Polytechnic Ibadan as one of the first generation polytechnics in Nigeria which, according to him, had over the years produced four other polytechnics.
These polytechnics, according to him, are the Osun State Polytechnic, Iree; Osun State College of Technology, Esa-Oke; The Ibarapa Polytechnic, Eruwa and The Oke-Ogun Polytechnic, Saki.
He charged the new students to always ask themselves questions on the reason they have come to the institution.
“If you ask yourself this question, your answer should be essentially to imbibe the best academic culture and come out with flying colours in your chosen career,” he said.
While declaring that the activities of the institution had been fully computerised, the rector encouraged the new students to be computer-literate in order to be able to register on time as stipulated, and more importantly to be abreast of development trends in their chosen careers.
He also advised them to participate in worthy social activities while on campus, as the institution gives room for academic, social and cultural associations on campus, but admonished them to desist from associations that could not only tarnish their image and that of their families, but also destroy their future.
