Thank you, ASUU, for suspending strike

The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has just suspended the strike which disrupted academic activities in universities across the country since last month. The strike took effect from August 13 following a statement by its National Executive Council (NEC) and its president. It caused students across the country and their parents considerable distress.

However, now that the strike has been called off, I urge students across the country to tighten their belts and make up for lost time. In the same vein, the Federal Government should do its best to ensure that the demands of the university teachers are met.

It should provide infrastructure and equipment in the federal universities so that quality education can be delivered to the students who are the leaders of tomorrow.

Many of the universities need to have their libraries, classrooms and even recreational centres upgraded.
