UNEASY calm is now brewing at Enugu-Ezike, headquarters of Igboeze North Local Government Area of Enugu State following the alleged murder of a motorcycle rider (Okada operator) by his messenger.
It was gathered that the victim aged 40 whose name was given as Sunday Eze from Umuogbuafu community in Enugu-Ezike was said to have been conveying the passenger with his motorcycle last Saturday before his life was cut short by the suspect.
Confirming the incident, the State Police Public Relations Officer. Ebere Amarizu, said “the deceased was conveying a passenger later identified as one Michael Gabriel of Enugu Ezike in Igboeze North local government Area of Enugu State and while the deceased was conveying the suspect was suddenly hit with an iron rod on his head over a yet to be established issue/issues which made the motorcyclist to fell down and at the same time became unconscious.”
Amarizu said, “The victim was however rushed to St. Mary’s Hospital located within the axis where he was later confirmed dead by the Medical Doctor on duty.”
The Police Spokesman, however, denied that there was tension in the community but stated, “a full scale investigation has commenced into the unfortunate incident as the suspect is helping the operatives of the command in their investigation.”
