Teachers are made and not created. This is the stand of Ademola Adeoye who claims that undergoing training in any human endeavour is important. The teaching profession is not an exception. Adeoye argues that leaders are made and not created just as experience and formal training are required for one to become a successful leader. This is true as one cannot become a leader overnight. It is crucial that one has to climb so many steps and go through trainings before one assumes the position of leadership.
Similarly, teachers are products of several trainings and professional exposures. This is even validated by recent government policies at professionalising teaching mainly to make the career not for every Tom, Dick and Harry. Before one can be a certified teacher, apart from having a degree or good educational background, one must pass a professional examination conducted by the nation’s teaching professional body: Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria (T.R.C.N). This is to erase the erroneous impression that anybody can be a teacher irrespective of their training and background in education. Just as leaders are products of serious trainings, teachers are equally same for it will be regarded as a mistake to think otherwise. Teachers are made and not created.
