THE Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has restored power supply to Damboa in Borno State, over two years after the previous 60MVA 132/33kV capacity transmission station with fully equipped control room and staff quarters was completely destroyed by Boko Haram insurgents.
This it said had led to the reduction of the bulk power transmission to Damboa and environs reduced by 60MVA.
In a statement issued by the GM (Public Affairs) TCN, Seun Olagunju, TCN said that the Damboa Substation has successfully installed and energized a 40MVA 132/33kV mobile power transformer.
It said this was done in an attempt to bridge the shortfall in bulk electricity transmission to distribution load centers that supply the electricity to Damboa and environs.
The statement further noted that installation works on the new mobile 40MVA 132/33kV power transformer commenced on 4th April, 2017 and was completed as well as energized on 7th May, 2017.
“The Mobile power transformer was installed in-house by TCN engineers,” it added.
TCN noted the fact that every electricity customer deserves access to electricity, adding that it would continue to work with security agents, where necessary, to ensure that it continues to transmit bulk electricity to distribution load centers anywhere within the nation.
