Petroleum marketers under the aegis of the Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN), Petroleum Tankers Driver branch of NUPENG (PTD) and Independent Marketers Branch of NUPENG (IMB), have grounded operations in Osun State.
This followed the threat carried out by the marketers on Saturday that the arrested driver and a truckload of diesel belonging to a member of the Petroleum Marketers Association at Gbongan junction, Osun State, by the Inspector General of Police (IGP) monitoring team be released immediately.

Speaking with TribuneOnline on behalf of the marketers on Sunday morning, Chairman, the Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN), covering Oyo, Osun States and environs, Alhaji Bukola Mutiu, said: “The tanker driver and the truckload of diesel arrested by the Inspector General of Police (IGP) monitoring team yesterday are yet to be released.
“Therefore, we have directed all our members in Osun State to stop operations. As I speak with you, fuel stations in Osogbo, Ila and Ikirun have been shut down.
“There will be no movement of tankers in and out of Osun State. We have also stopped all the tankers bringing petroleum products to Osun State this morning until the said tanker and its driver are released.“
