Suspected cultists kill Seriki Hausa’s son in Edo

In yet another cult-related killing in Benin City, Edo State capital, some unidentified gunmen on Monday killed a would-be groom in the metropolis.

The latest victim identified as Dalandi, Tribune Online gathered, was the son of the Seriki Hausa in Benin.

Danladi, it was gathered, was set to wed in December.

A source, who witnessed the killing but chose to be anonymous, reported that Danladi was shot dead at his friend’s shop, just some 100 meters away from the Esigie Police Division in Oredo Local Government Area of the state.

The source further added that Danladi was sitting in his friend’s shop along Enohuwa Street, off First East Circular Road, when his assailants, who disembarked from a GLK Benz jeep, opened fired in him, twice at closed range.

“Danladi is an easy going guy. He is the son of Seriki Hausa in the area.

“Danladi’s death has created a huge vacuum in his family and a painful loss to his would-be wife.

“He has started sending invitation cards of his wedding to guests. He was billed to tie the knot with his partner in December,” The source disclosed

Speaking on the development, Edo State Police Command spokesman, Moses Yamu, said that the Command was doing everything possible to stem the tide of cultism in the state.

Yamu, a Superintendent of Police (SP), assured that the situation had been brought under control.

This was just as he called on members of the public to give useful information to the police to help in the fight against cultism and cult-related crimes in the state.
