Suya rings a bell as a kind of street food; which is where we commonly find it in this part of the world. But there is no harm trying this delicacy out in the comfort of your home. There is curfew in most parts of Nigeria now, due to COVID-19 and it might be difficult to get suya on the street once the clock strikes 7pm.
Hence, you have the recipe here to try on your own and you can definitely reminisce on the street life you might be missing out from.
Ingredients
4 Cups Chicken breast or boneless thigh cut into bite-size
½ Cup Suya Spice or more
Seasoning powder or cube
2 Tablespoons Vegetable Oil for coating
Skewer soak to avoid burning
Salt to taste
Instructions
Soak the skewers in a bowl full of water to avoid burning
Clean the chicken and cut into bite-size, you can pound the chicken to flatten it but it’s optional.
Season with seasoning powder/cube and salt and mix to permeate all the chicken.
Drizzle oil over the chicken and make sure it coats all the chicken and gently thread the chicken into the skewer.
Coat the chicken with the suya spice and make sure all the chicken is coated.
Set aside for at least 30 minutes. Preheat the oven to 400 degrees F. Line a baking sheet with a foil/parchment paper, you can put a wire rack before placing the coated chicken.
