Last time we began looking at staying positive. Nobody has control over how we feel except ourselves. We decide how we will respond to people, issues and situations. Life will throw darts at us but life does not determine how we will react to it. We must choose to stay positive than negative.
“You cannot change reality, but you can control the manner in which you look at things. Your attitude is under your own control. Weed out the negative and focus on the positive!” Helen Steiner Rice
There a number of things we can do to become positive people. We need to consciously watch and filter what we allow into our minds.
What we dwell on will determine, to a large extent, what we will turn out to be. “Positive thoughts lead to positive results.” Maria Snyder
We must be careful what books we read and what movies we see. What we see and hear have a strong influence on how we will see life.
“Keep your thoughts positive, because your thoughts become your words. Keep your words positive, because your words become your behavior. Keep your behavior positive, because your behavior becomes your habits. Keep your habits positive, because your habits.” Mahatma Gandhi
Our most predominant thoughts are a pointer to what we will become in the future. If our thoughts are predominantly negative we can be rest assured that we will be negative in our approach, attitude and actions. If our thoughts are positive we will tend to become positive.
We also need to watch our relationships. If we are to become positive people we must consciously court, nurture and maximize relationships with positive people. We will always imbibe the attitudes and attributes of the people we closely relate with. A Yoruba adage says that the sheep that companies with dogs will eventually eat diet of dogs.
“We are so often hit with negativity—negative news, negative perspectives—from pessimistic people that it might seem next to impossible to continue on with a positive spirit. Instead of getting stuck in the negativity, turn to those habitually optimistic people who have figured out how to see the brighter side of life and remain positive no matter what… so you can learn to do the same.” John Rampton
Life is all about perspective. We need to always look at the bright side. Things can always be worse than they are so we have cause to thank God and expect things to get better. “Look,” he said, “the point is there’s no way to be a hundred percent sure about anyone or anything. So you’re left with a choice. Either hope for the best, or just expect the worst.”
If you expect the worst, you’re never disappointed,” I pointed out.
Yeah, but who lives like that?” Sarah Dessen Life will not just answer to being positive but it’s a great aid to making life easier and workable
“STAYING POSITIVE does not mean that things will turn out okay. Rather it is knowing that YOU will be okay no matter how things turn out.” unknown
