She’s dubious; beats my two other wives blue-black —Man

A driver, Mr Isiaka Kolapo has brought a divorce suit before Ile Tuntun Customary Court, Mapo, Ibadan, Oyo State.

Isiaka, in his suit, pleaded with the court to dissolve his 11-year-old marriage to his wife, Sukurat Ahmot, on the ground that she was dubious and always fighting him.

“My wife is not a straight-forward person. If she greets you ’good morning’, you can be sure it’s night. She’s also not trustworthy when it comes to the issue of money. I have always ended up in a big mess any time we had business dealings; she will either dupe me or mismanage the money.

“She’s also in the habit of fighting me. We fight day in, day out and have become a nuisance in the neighbourhood.

“I have reported her to her parents on many occasions and they have always pleaded with me not to send her packing, “he stated.

“She moved to her parents’ house when I lost my job. From there she called to inform me she was pregnant. She took ill and was advised to seek medical attention at the University College Hospital (UCH), but she refused. She later lost the baby.

“I pleaded with her to return home, but she refused. I, therefore, took another wife. On hearing this, she rushed home while I was at work, pounced on my new wife and beat the hell out of her.  She sustained serious injury which made her parents take her away.

“I got married to another woman again, but my wife forced her to leave after beating her blue-black.

“Frustrated, I packed her belongings out of my house. She fought me and got me arrested by the police. I was locked up in the cell for days.

“I called her sometime ago to bring our son to me so that I could  register him for the secondary school common entrance, but she refused. She denied our son the opportunity of taking the examination.

“I pray to be given custody of our son; she doesn’t have time for him, she’s always travelling.”

Sukurat acceded to divorce, stating that she and her husband had been separated for seven years.

“My husband and I have been living apart for seven years due to our differences.

“My parents had made attempts on many occasions to mediate in our issue, but he had been adamant.

“All he said about our child is a lie. He has been with me for six years and I have been taking good care of him. He took common entrance into Federal Government College, Ogbomosho,  “the defendant concluded.

After listening to the duo, the court president, Chief Agbaje Olasunkanmi, adjourned the case till May 22 and ordered that the defendant comes to court with their son.
