Today, my heart sinks for those who have lost thier lives due to the current covid-19 pandemic not just affecting our dear country Nigeria but the rest of the world. May the souls of those departed rest in peace.
I also sympathise with the families of those who have lost their dear ones and also those who are currently in isolation fighting for their lives due to the unseen enemy, Corona virus. And I pay tribute to our very own health workers, health task force and Nurses. They are doing a great job in saving lives and also preventing the spread of the virus.
Those also using their social media platforms to remind and educate Nigerians as to what the virus is capable of doing to lives, I also pay tribute to you all. When all of this is over and normality is restored, it will be good to please give a one-minute silence to those who have lost their lives.
In all of this, it is easy to almost lose hope, get distracted and maybe give up, but this is the time to see, think and realise that our great country Nigeria, which is also the Lion of Africa, can and should be enlisted as one of the best countries, if not even the best, in the world.
So, enough of blaming others for their mistakes; rather, encourage and support. Or why do we say the Nigerian pledge when compelled to? It is to understand that what is said through the lips should also come from the heart with a meaningful desire.
Social gatherings and distancing, wearing of masks, cleaning and washing of our hands regularly are measures in place to help save our lives as well as lives of others.
Other countries have risen to the heights of greatness, so should we, and yes we will but this achievement can only come to realisation if we decide to work together in order to achieve greatness – which is what I am sure every Nigerian desires.
In my opinion, Nigeria can achieve its full potential if we decide to embrace the quality of humanity, which brings about peace and prosperity
God bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria and God bless Mr President.
Prince Taiwo Thompson,
Lagos
