Security challenges require well-trained personnel, PTI boss says

Principal and Chief Executive of the Petroleum Training Institute (PTI) Effurun, Dr. Henry Adimula, has disclosed that the current security challenges across the globe require adequately trained personnel for better security approach.

Adimula made the disclosure at the opening ceremony of a three-day in-house training of the institute’s internal security personnel organised by the security department of the institute.

He appealed to the participants to garner enough experience from the training and justify their selection by ensuring that the outcome of the training impacts their ability to demonstrate the required skills, efficiency and effectiveness in discharging their duties.

Adimula urged the personnel to intensify efforts in the discharge of their duties as the institute’s management will always do its part by providing an enabling environment and necessary equipment required for their job.

While appreciating the Institute’s CSO, Mr. Atedoghu Apiriala for ensuring the success of the training, the PTI boss declared, “The security challenges across the globe require that personnel are well-equipped with adequate training, which will help them to perform their duties effectively for better security results.”

The Institute’s Director of Research and Development, Dr. Tina Isichei also noted that the training will equally bring to bear the imperative of compliance with the rule of law in the drive for security and enhance the officers’ understanding in the area of human rights.

While urging them to be proactive, especially in emergency situations, she emphasised the need not to entertain any iota of compromise while carrying out their duties, adding that security is a serious business.

In his vote of thanks, the PTI Registrar, Mr. Isaac Fregene, commended the Institute’s Chief Executive for approving the training and emphasised the need for the security personnel to avoid unnecessary overtures which, according to him, can lead them to compromise their positions.
