A 29-year-old salesman, Gboluga Adeoye, on Thursday, appeared before an Okitipupa Chief Magistrates’ Court, Ondo State for allegedly stealing N50,000.
The defendant, who has no fixed address, is standing trial on a two-count charge bordering on stealing and converting another person’s property to his personal use.
The prosecutor, Insp Zedekiah Orogbemi, told the court that the defendant, on Dec. 27, 2018, stole the money collected as proceeds of sales of some bags of cement belonging to his employer, Korede Arowolo.

Orogbemi added that the defendant also converted the stolen money into his personal use before he was arrested.
According to the prosecutor, the offences contravene Sections 390(9) and 383 of the Criminal Code, Cap. 37, Vol.1, Laws of Ondo State, 2006.
The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty as charged.
The chief magistrate, Mr Musa Al-Yunus, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N50, 000 and a surety in like sum with evidence of one-year tax clearance.
He adjourned the case until Feb. 21 for further hearing.
