Some young Nigerians were recent recipients of the prestigious Royal African Young Leadership Forum (RAYLF) awards hosted by the Ooni of Ile-Ife, His Imperial Majesty, Ooni Adeyeye Ogunwusi Ojaja II, who is the founder and organiser of the RAYLF awards. Among them was popular comedian, MC, author and speaker, Damilare Osundare, popularly known as Asiricomedy.
Asiri, who spearheads the Humoralityclub and also the founder of the progressive start-up community, Mysterytribe, in a recent chat with TribuneOnline, said that the recognition has encouraged his belief that the youth remain the future of Nigeria and has re-invigorated his commitment to youth development and mentorship.
He said, “The event was themed “Africa of the future: Unlocking the hidden treasures of the continent” and this lends credence to the vision of the forum which is aimed at unlocking the treasures of talents of young people across the African continent through recognising, supporting, and promoting them.
“I was honoured alongside very important young people across Nigeria among which were aircraft engineer, philanthropist and CEO of the Aircraft Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO); Isaac Balami, popular actress, singer and songwriter, Bukunmi Oluwashina; illusionist, Babatunde Kasunmu (popularly known as Babs Cardini), who is well known for his magical display; social media expert, Japheth Omojuwa; blogger and author, Oluwatosin Ajibade (popularly known as Olorisupergal), among others.
“You can see from the line-up of awardees that, indeed, the youth are the future of this country and Africa as a whole. His Imperial Majesty, the Ooni of Ile-Ife, a leader of youths himself, believes this and deemed it fit to recognise some of us. This honour will spur everyone to redeem the image of the nation by achieving great feats in our chosen endeavours. Nigeria will remain great and Nigerian youths like myself will champion the cause,” he said.
