INDICATIONS that Nigerians have not forgotten the sacrifices of the democracy martyr, Chief Moshood Kashimawo Abiola emerged on Monday when many Nigerians honoured his blessed memory.
There is no doubt that, but for the sacrifices made by the Ogun State-born billionaire business mogul and philanthropist to entrench democracy in Nigeria, the country would not be enjoying the democracy that it enjoys today. I feel very happy that Nigerians still remember MKO with pride.
Nigerians will never forget June 12, 1993, the day that their dreams were aborted by the military; the day when the freeset and fairest presidential election in the nation’s history was annulled for no just cause.
Many of those who hatched one of the biggest conspiracies against the Nigerian people in 1993 and the following years are still alive while many are dead. But their deeds will never be forgotten.
The many calamities that befell the nation as a result of the annulment will never be forgotten.
Chief MKO Abiola died that Nigerians might live. He will never be forgotten. His legacies are imperishable.
