Tribune Education recalls that the clinic was razed mid-February this year by irate students of the institution who were protesting the sudden death of a student who slumped while playing football on the pitch of the campus.
The vice chancellor, Professor Musbau Adewumi Akanji, while speaking at the occasion said that without doubt, the unrest had serious effects on the university, including disruption of the semester examination.
The newly constructed clinic was estimated at N82 million by the deputy director, Information Unit, of the university, Mrs Lydia Legbo, while speaking with Tribune Education shortly after the event.
Professor Akanji, in his remarks, described the recent crisis on the Bosso campus of the institution as very unfortunate, and advised everyone, particularly the students, to embrace peace and dialogue as the most logical route for resolution of grievances.
According to him, the clinic has been re-engineered to enhance functional and optimised space utilisation, while the annex has similarly undergone restructuring to meet contemporary requirements of a standard clinic.
