THE Federal Government has said that the country cannot achieve rapid transformation and economic prosperity without a sound, stable and viable educational system.
Minister of Education, Malam Adamu Adamu, who said this in Abuja, noted that this informed the interest shown by the current administration in the last four years to the development of the sector.
He said efforts were made on improving the quality of the educational system while also increasing access at all levels of education in the country.
The minister said further that “Cognizant of the pivotal role that education plays in nation building and fulfillment of the promises made to the country, the present administration convened a stakeholder’s forum which produced the approved Ministerial Strategic Plan.

“The plan encapsulates the vision and achievable goals bearing in mind the fact that no nation can attain rapid transformation and economic prosperity without a sound, stable and viable educational system.
“The development of the Education for Change: A Ministerial Strategic Plan (2016-2019) chronicles a set of policy guidelines, intervention strategies which resulted in repositioning Nigeria’s education sector effectively and decisively plays its central role in the national reform and development agenda of the present administration” .
Adamu added that the outcome of the strategic plan was such that real positive change had been brought about and that the sector had been repositioned with the resultant value addition to the lives of citizens thereby enhancing prosperity and global competitiveness of the nation.
