As part of Ramadan welfare package, the Zamfara State Government has distributed food items and clothes worth N1.8bn to the less privileged.
The state governor, Bello Matawalle disclosed that while flagging off the distribution of food items and clothing to the less privileged in Gusau at the weekend.
According to the Governor, the items to be distributed include rice, maize, millet, sugar, cooking oil eggs and clothing materials.
He said the state government found it necessary to assist the less privileged in the state during the month (Ramadan), ‘especially when we considered the hardship faced by the ordinary as a result of banditry and COVID-19 pandemic.
Meanwhile, the governor also tasked the Ulama (Islamic cleric) to pray for sustained peace in the state and the country at large during the month of Ramadan.
Matawalle said with prayers all things are surmountable, saying the vices that the taking place in the state are alarming and need sober reflection in order to tackle.
In a statement issued by Special Adviser on Media and Communication, Zailani Bappa quoted the governor as saying that the Islamic clerics should use the month of Ramadhan to supplicate to the Almighty God for the alleviation of these vices.
