•charges Nigerians on humanity
In its bid to give support to the needy, a philanthropist, Ayodeji Sakiru Alayande has distributed food items to about 1,500 residents of Ibadan, the Oyo state capital.
Speaking during the distribution of the food items, the philanthropist urged well-meaning Nigerians to help the needy during and after the holy month of Ramadan.
He said this on Tuesday during an annual Ramadan lecture he sponsored and held at the Palace of Olugbode Itabaale, In Ibadan.
Alayande urged the Muslim faithful to use their wealth and positions to positively impact the people around them during and after the Ramadan fasting.
He added that Ramadan is a time for reflection adding that it is beyond fasting but a time to deepen connection with God and as well serve humanity.
He said, “Ramadan is a time for reflection, it is beyond fasting, and time to deepen our connection with God and serve humanity.
“May I use this opportunity to appeal to our people to wake up from our comfort zones and join the task of helping others.
“Don’t give to get, give to inspire”. I am appealing to every one of us to make a paradigm shift by adopting a selfless approach in our giving attitude.”
In his message, guest lecturer at the event, Sheikh Abubakar Mohammed Solaty also admonished Nigerians to always give freely to the needy.
.
He maintained that giving to the needy should not be limited to the Ramadan period or close relations alone adding that people should imbibe the spirit of giving instead of being a receiver at all times.
He charged Nigerians on the need to be kind to one another and desist from wicked ways.
“As we receive mercy from God we should be kind by giving to the needy in our environment, while we should also strive to be a giver too and not a receiver at all times.
“We should all embrace Godly ways of living and desist from wicked ways in life as there is reward for good deeds.”
Also speaking, one of the beneficiaries at the event, Alhaja Saudat Olokoto appreciated the host for the gesture, while she prayed for the philanthropist.
Also present at the event is the Chief Imam of Ibadan land, Sheikh Abdulganiyy Abubakr Agbotomokekere.
