Founding fathers of Osun Osun State have called on the people of the state to put aside their political differences and work towards socio-economic development
The founding fathers, in a statement made available to newsmen at the weekend, noted the spate of criticism levelled against Governor Ademola Adeleke and the previous political leaders in the state .
The chairman of the group, Chief Diran Fagboungbe, noted that the current leadership of the state is being distracted by harsh criticism, saying if for the state is to experience economic growth, there must be unity.
“All those condenming Adeleke should stop it to enable him to concentrate on the physical development and economic advancement of the state,’’ he said.
Commenting on the three different retreats for political office holders and civil servants in Ede and Osogbo recently, Fagbongbe said it has been one crisis after another since the state was created in 1991.
He said the state has not gained anything tangible with the crises and called for a ceasefire.
He said towards the twilight of the state’s establishment and shortly afterwards in 1991, a lot of events unknown to about 80 percent of the nine military and civilian governors who had ruled the state occurred.
He called on Adeleke to mark the 33rd anniversary celebration of the state with pomp on August 27 to show appreciation to God and the founding fathers of the state.
