A group known as the ‘Benue Alliance for Good Governance’ has appealed to the state Governor, Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Alia, to prioritise the welfare and progress of the state.
The leader of the group, Dr Aondoakaar Asambe, who acknowledged the governor’s commitment over the past five months to making a difference in governance, further encouraged him to continue on the path of progress.
Asambe made this statement on Monday in Makurdi while addressing journalists regarding the way forward for the state to achieve growth and development.
The group observed that the state had been yearning for development, which is why people saw in Alia a priest and entrusted their mandate to him.
The group stated, “Benue Alliance for Good Governance firmly reminds Governor Alia of the mandate entrusted to him and the corresponding responsibility associated with his office.
We implore him to exhibit strong and independent leadership, resisting any enticement to cede his duties to external forces.”
Asambe appealed to all stakeholders to prioritise the welfare and progress of Benue State. He further said, “A unified and responsible approach to governance is the cornerstone of a prosperous Benue State built on the principles of good governance.”
The group also advised the governor to stand firm and resist any elements that might hinder a smooth takeoff.
“It is better to be defended by the people who gave you a mandate than to seek shelter under the umbrella of another man,” Asambe concluded.
Recall that Governor Alia, at several fora, insisted that the welfare of the people of the state remains his priority.
