THE Ogun West Elders Council has said that the result declared by the Mohammed Indabawa governorship electoral committee mandated to conduct the governorship primary of the All Progressives Congress in the state was a clear invitation to crisis.
It, therefore, urged President Muhammadu Buhari and leaders of the party to prevail on the National Working Committee of the party to nullify the result as announced by the committee on Wednesday night.
The Chairman of the Council, Alhaji Ajibola Olagbaye, said this at a press conference in Abeokuta, on Thursday evening, that the Council would not accept what it described as “open cheat”, “misrepresentation and perversion” to go.
He submitted that Hon Adekunle Akinlade convincingly and overwhelming won the governorship primary elections in all the 236 wards in the state.
” The result announced by the panel is not acceptable. Members of the committee have been compromised. We challenged them to produce all the results signed by wards chairmen, youth leaders and ward secretaries.
“To our surprise, the results of the primary as released by the NWC is contrary to what we got from our wards. That leaves much to be desired.
“Ogun State is a peaceful state but what NWC did is an invitation to crisis and the elders are doing their best to calm the people down.
“We believe our president and the party chairman, Oshiomhole will not allow this open cheat, open misrepresentation and open pervasion of results of primary to go.
“Everyone knows that the consensus candidate, Adekunle Akinlade won overwhelmingly in all the 236 wards which are contrary to what the electoral committee of NWC released.
“There is no doubt that the results released by the NWC are fake. There is no doubt about that,” Olagbaye added.
