Police storm criminal hideout in Ekiti, arrest six suspects

Operatives of the Ekiti State Police Command have arrested no fewer than six suspects from their hideout in Ado-Ekiti, the state capital.

Nigerian Tribune gathered that the suspects were arrested at the notorious Atikankan area of the state capital following reports of armed robbery.

Eyewitnesses explained that the hoodlums were said to have attacked innocent residents of the area in the early hours of Thursday and dispossessed them of their belongings.

It was also learnt that the development resulted in a clash between some commercial motorcyclists and youths in the area.

When contacted, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) SP Abutu Sunday confirmed the arrest of the six suspected criminals.

He noted that they were arrested by men of the Rapid Response Squad (RRS) after receiving distress calls from residents in the area.

The PPRO said, ” Today being 09/01/2025 at about 11:20hrs, the Command received a distress call that some hoodlums were attacking and robbing innocent people in Atikankan Area of Ado-Ekiti.

“The operatives of the RRS were deployed to the axis where six of the suspects were arrested. They are currently undergoing investigation. Effort is underway to arrest other fleeing members of the gang.”

Abutu called on residents to report any suspicious and criminal activities in their areas to the police towards ensuring a peaceful state.
