Police rescue five abducted Zamfara students

THE Zamfara State police command has rescued five out of the 73 abducted students of Government Day Secondary School, Kaya in Maradun Local Government Area of the state. 

Following the abduction of students on Wednesday, the state police command, in collaboration with other security agencies, immediately swung into action by deploying a search and rescue team to Kaya and its environs to rescue the students. 

Spokesman for the police command, Mohammed Shehu, in a statement issued on Thursday, said the ongoing search and rescue mission “is yielding positive result as five abducted female students were today [Thursday] rescued. 

“The victims were medically checked at the hospital, debriefed by the police and reunited with their families. 

“The Commissioner of Police, Ayuba N. Elkana, has assured the people of the state that the ongoing search and rescue effort will be sustained, so that the remaining abducted students will be rescued hale and hearty.”
