THE arrested notorious kidnapper, Onuamadike Chukwudimeje, alias Evans, on Sunday, told the police that he operated three detention camps in Lagos.

The suspect, while taking the police officers round the camps, also said he made enough money from kidnapping, though he could not enjoy it due to pressure from the police.

Speaking during the inspection of the camps, Evans said he started fending for himself at age 10 when his father abandoned him.

The suspect also said his mother was paralysed and had since been bedridden.

The notorious kidnapper said his collection of automobiles is worth over N100 million, while he debunked the news that he had a vehicle called “Phantom.”

“I had three different detention camps in Lagos. I abandoned the Jakande Estate one when the residents became suspicious.

“I dropped out of school in JSS 2 when my father refused to further sponsor my education. I have been fending for myself since I was 10 with little support from my mother.

“I did not enjoy the money I made from this business because I was running from one place to another because the police were after me,” he said.

He listed his automobiles to include one Toyota Hilux, valued at N11 million; one Nissan pick-up valued at N7 million; one Lexus GL460 valued at N20 million; one Range Rover valued at N55 million and another Lexus valued at N9 million.

Evans also denied that he abandoned his father in penury, claiming that the father started the piggery business from what he (Evans) gave him.

He also blamed his involvement in crime on the lack of good upbringing as a result of his father’s attitude.

“Had it been that my father had taken good care of me, I would not have become what I am today,” he said.

The suspect also said “before I stopped going home, I gave my father N3 million and bought him a SUV and a pick-up van. I believed he used the money to establish the piggery business.”

Speaking on his faith, he said: “I believe in God, that’s why I always mandated my wife to take my children to prayer.

“My favourite portion in the bible is Psalm 23. I like Psalms because of my sins. I always told my children to seek forgiveness for me.”

According to him: “If I am given a chance, I will be the most grateful person on earth,” while he promised to be an advocate of anti-kidnapping in the country.”

Speaking on his treatment at the prison, he said other inmates had been treating him well, adding that even if they did not, he could not complain.
