The operatives of the Okigwe Police Divisional Headquarters of the Imo State Police Command have arrested three suspects in possession of a human skull.
The suspects, who were also found with other items such as a native hen and white garments, were arrested in collaboration with residents of Ogii Community along the Okigwe-Umuahia Express Road.
In a statement issued on Wednesday in Owerri, the Police Command’s Public Relations Officer, DSP Henry Okoye, stated that the arrest is part of the Imo State Police Command’s continued efforts to curb criminal activities in the state.
According to the PPRO, the three suspects arrested include 29-year-old Patrick Okoere, 28-year-old Ifeanyichukwu Anyaemeka, and 20-year-old Chukwuemeka Onyekachi. He added that they are currently under investigation.

Okoye further stated that during questioning, Patrick claimed his uncle, Osunta Oko, had asked him to acquire a human skull. He alleged that he found it along a riverbank on the Okigwe-Umuahia Expressway, an area where the command has previously received reports of kidnappings.
The police spokesman added that the command is actively pursuing Osunta Oko and other possible accomplices in connection with this disturbing incident. He also noted that a DNA analysis is underway to determine the identity of the skull’s owner.
Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police, CP Aboki Danjuma, has reassured the public of the command’s unwavering commitment to ensuring the safety and security of all residents.
He emphasized that justice will be served and that the suspects will face prosecution upon the completion of the investigation.
