The Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, has directed the Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG) in charge of Zone 2, Adegoke Fayoade, to investigate the killing of one person during an attack on the Osuke community in Ogun State by a gang of armed men allegedly led by a notorious land grabber, Elijah Killer.
Meanwhile, the family of the deceased has raised the alarm over the arrest of four of their members, including an asthmatic patient, by policemen attached to the Onipanu Divisional Police Station.
One person, Saheed Shoboyejo, was killed last week, and many others were injured during two separate attacks on the Osuke community by over one hundred armed hoodlums.
The Ogun State Command of the Nigeria Police Force confirmed the recovery of three expended cartridges and two spent AK-47 rounds from the scene of the attack.
AIG Fayoade, however, stated that a manhunt has begun for the leader of the gang, Elijah Killer, and other members of his group.
Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, reacting to the alleged terror attacks linked to the perpetrators, said, “This is the first time the matter has come to the attention of the IGP, and he has directed the AIG Zone 2 to ensure proper investigations and arrest the perpetrators.
“The Nigeria Police Force will not condone any form of criminality or terror from anybody.”
The Nigeria Police Force spokesperson also warned that any police officer found collaborating, aiding, or abetting the perpetrators of the attacks “will be dealt with in accordance with the provisions of the law.”
AIG Fayoade told newsmen, “We have begun investigations into the activities of the gang. I have declared a manhunt for their leader and other members of the gang.”
The police chief also assured, “We will not allow any form of terrorism under any guise within this zone. We will go after them, arrest them, and ensure they are properly prosecuted.”

Meanwhile, the Ileke family has decried the arrest of four of their members by policemen attached to the Onipanu Police Station.
They identified the arrested family members as Yisa Akeju, Akeem Olusoji, Samuel Akintunde, and Jamiu Musibau, one of whom is said to be suffering from asthma.
A member of the family, Barrister Olanrewaju Balogun, called on the AIG Zone 2 not only to order the immediate release of the detained family members but also to investigate the interest of the Onipanu Divisional Police Station in the crisis.
Balogun stated that the arrested family members had gone on a fact-finding mission to a part of Osuke community on Saturday when they were arrested.
According to him, the detainees are being held at Onipanu Police Station without access to their family or legal representation.
The spokesperson for the Ogun State Police Command, CSP Omolola Odutola, claimed she had not been briefed about the arrest of the family members.
