Police confirms bandits’ attack in Sokoto

Sokoto State Police Command have confirmed the attack carried out by suspected armed bandits in Tangaza local government area of Sokoto State.

Villagers had earlier told our correspondent that the attack claimed the lives of two persons and led to the abduction of four persons.

The spokesman of the police command in the state, Assistant Superintendent of Police, Sanusi Abubakar said the attack only caused the death of  one person with  another person  sustaining gunshot injury

He said there is no confirmation that people were kidnaped during the attack, which is contrary to the claim of villagers that said four persons mostly children were abducted during the attack.

Recalled that villagers had earlier told our correspondent that the attack claimed the lives of two persons and led to the abduction of four persons.

Meanwhile, the police image maker in the state said the bandits are been suffocated by the joint security operation in Zamfara State where the restriction of movement and closure of markets in most of the communities in the North West Geopolitical region has affected supplies of food items and fuel for their operations.

Mr. Abubakar said the bandits’ purpose for the attack is to get food items and their target when they arrived in the village were shops where food items are sold.

He said the police are on the trail of the assailant haven’t foiled the attack and reduced the number of casualties.

PPRO Sanusi said security personnel are not relenting and will ensure Sokoto state is protected against the hibernating criminals who are been pressured from their Zamfara axis of operation.
