A business centre operator, who allegedly specialised in printing fake ballot papers has been arrested by the police in Lagos State.
The suspect, Remi Adeniyi, was arrested in Ikotun area of the state by detectives from the state police command and was as at Wednesday evening still being detained at Igando divisional police station.
The image maker in charge of the state police command, Dolapo Badmos, confirmed the arrest of the suspect to the Tribune Online.
It was gathered that the arrested suspect is the owner of Rems Multimedia and he allegedly in the past printed fake ballot papers.
Badmos, while confirming the arrest of the suspect to the Metro said “The Lagos State Police Command in the early hours of Wednesday, arrested a man who specialises in printing fake voters cards.”
She also added that “The command received an intelligence report that a printer identified as Remi Adebiyi with his office located at governor’s road, College bus stop Ikotun has been secretly printing voters’ cards.”
The Lagos State police spokesperson also stated that “Based on the information, the command’s operatives mobilised to the business premises in the early hours of today and discovered some specimens.”
The suspect, Remi Adeniyi, who has confessed to the crime stated that he was contracted by some people to print the fake voters’ cards.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Fatai Owoseni. has directed that the case be discreetly investigated, as effort is on to arrest other suspects connected with the case.
