Police arrest Delta SSG impersonator after N10m job scam

Delta State Police Command has arrested a suspected fraudster, one Samsom Ibiloma, who for a long while specialised in impersonating top government officials including the Secretary to the State Government, Dr Kingsley Emu.

The suspect who operated under the alias of Hon. Kingsley Emu, the Secretary to the Delta State Government, had defrauded unsuspecting victims seeking jobs of over N10 million.

According to a statement by the state Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Bright Edafe on Tuesday, the 52-year-old Ibiloma, a native of Dekina Local Government Area of Kogi State was arrested in Walter Odili Area by Enerhen Junction, Warri on 1/11/2023.

“The Commander of CP-DECOY, ASP Julius Robinson, while armed with available technically generated intelligence had stormed the area to effect the arrest even as the notorious suspect confessed to impersonating government officials of repute and influence.

“He further admitted he has so far defrauded his victims over Ten Million Naira (N10,000,000). The suspects also confessed that the leader of the syndicate is one Stephen Odeemero, whom he claimed to be the mastermind of the crime.

“The suspect is in custody and effort is on to arrest other fleeing members of the gang,” the statement. added.

Meanwhile the State Commissioner of Police, Wale Abass has called on residents who have fallen victims to the fraudulent act to visit the command headquarters or the police public relations officer office.

Abass reassured the public that the Command will continue to ensure the safety and peace of all residents in the State, particularly during this busy time of the year.

He further urged the law-abiding public to always report any criminal activities to the nearest police station.
