The Police in Jigawa state had so far arrested 19 suspected criminals in connection with the kidnapping of a 60-year-old man and demanding N70 million ramson.
This was contained in a press statement issued signed and made available to Tribune Online in Dutse the state capital by the Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Lawan Shisu, who said “the suspects were arrested by a combined team of police, vigilante and local security network, known as ‘Yan Bulala.”
The statement explained that the operation led to the arresting the suspect was led by the state’s commissioner of police, Mr Tafida after the team raided their suspected hideouts in Ringim and Garki Local Government Areas of the state.
According to the statement “On Monday, between 0700hrs and 1600hrs, a combined team of a policeman from Ringim area command, Babura division, Taura division, vigilante group and Yan Bulala, led by CP Tafida, assisted by Ringim area commander, raided the suspected abductors’ hideouts at Galaga village in Ringim LGA and Fagen Gawo forest in Garki local government area in the state”.
“Three of the suspects were arrested in Galaga village while 16 of them were arrested in Fagen Gawo forest in Garki LGA.”
The statement added that two bows and arrows a cutlass, a knife, two cellphones, two charm bulletproof jackets, a solar panel and several charms and SIM packs were recovered from the suspects.
According to him, the investigation into the case was still ongoing.
