Yekini who spoke with newsmen on Friday, said that with the renewed killings in Plateau State, the military authorities had intensified patrol within and outside Benue State to forestall the experience of the renewed killings in Plateau State.
He added that the patrols had sometimes been extended to Nasarawa State border to keep criminals and armed bandits away from attacking innocent people.
Yekini stated this while reacting to the alleged sporadic exchange of gunfire between troops and some suspected herdsmen on Thursday night in some communities in Guma Local Government Area of the state.

According to the OPWS Commander, few of the herdsmen who sighted the troops took to their heels.
“A few herdsmen were sighted in Guma and as soon as they saw our troops, they ran away. It’s a regular occurrence.
“Our troops have been placed on red alert to forestall a recurrence of what is happening in Plateau.
“Troops are on 24 hours surveillance, patrolling the length and breadth of Benue State. This exercise is sometimes extended to Nasarawa State, Yekini said.
