A humanitarian gesture was demonstrated at the Divisional Police station in Ogwashi-Uku in Aniocha South Local Government Area of Delta State, when the Chief Executive Officer of MIO Construction Company Nigeria Limited, Mr Meshack Ikechukwu Odide, built a modern staff quarterS for the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) in charge .
Odide, at the inauguration of the facility said the staff quarters for the DPO was built in order to improve the security situation in the station and also to contribute his quota to the Federal Government’s efforts at enhancing the security of lives and properties of the people.
Thanking God for giving him the strength to finish the project, the philanthropist also thanked the DPO, CSP Mohammed Na-Allah, for motivating and encouraging him to execute the project.
Earlier, the Delta State Police Commissioner, Mohammed Na-Allah, lauded Odide for the gesture.
The commissioner, who was represented by the Deputy Commissioner of Police, Johnson Oluwole Adenola, described Odide as a wonderful young man that had the interest of others at heart.
He said Nigeria police would continue to remember him for his good work, just as he called on other spirited individuals or corporate organisations to emulate him.
In their remarks, Prince Emordi Okonjo, Secretary to Aniocha South Local Government Area, who represented the council at the event and the representative of the Obi of Ogwashi-Uku kingdom, the Onighe of Ogwashi-Uku, Chief Ezekiel Nwakaego Iloba, described Odide as an uncommon philanthropist that had conquered selfishness.
The chairman Police Committee Relations Committee (PCRC), Police Area Command, Ogwashi-Uku, Dr Dike Awana, said Odide “is an exceptional youth. He is a great man, a complete hidden fish that could not be shielded by any power.”
Odide, who spoke to newsmen during the event, said he had the passion to positively affect lives from cradle, adding that the major thing that gives him joy was when people around him were joyful.
