THE National Caretaker Committee (NCC) of the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) has dissolved all parallel state Executive Committees in Anambra state.

The decision to sack them followed a meeting of the Senator Ahmed Makarfi-led NCC and party stakeholders from the state in Abuja on Thursday.

A statement issued by the National Secretary of the NCC, Prince Dayo Adeyeye, said after careful deliberations, the party NCC resolved in exercise of its Powers under Section 31, (2)(E) to dissolve all the existing factional Executive Committees of the party in Anambra state.

It said the NCC will in due course, appoint a Caretaker Committee to run the affairs of the PDP in the state pending when it will be auspicious to elect executive committees at all levels.

“To this end, all Party Stakeholders (Leaders and other Members) are hereby enjoined to bury all their differences and join hands together in unity towards the Victory of the Party in the forthcoming gubernatorial election in Anambra State,” the statement said.

The NCC had met with stakeholders and aspirants under the party for the forthcoming Anambra state governorship election to brainstorm on how the party can snatch victory.

The election is scheduled for November 18, 2017.

Former Anambra state governor, Peter Obi explained that the meeting was a discussion on how to get the PDP to effectively play its role to help build a better Nigeria.

Concerning Anambra state, he added that it was a family meeting geared towards resolving the differences in the party in order to help to build the state.

Some of the governorship aspirants who attended the meeting told newsmen that the meeting was an initiative of the national leadership to get the different interests to agree on how to move the party forward.

Prince John Emeka, who described the meeting as a success, said the Anambra state PDP is now one big happy family and primed to go into the election with success in mind.

He said: “Anambra is a pure PDP state but in the past, we have had our differences that led to scuttling and aligning with other parties that led to defeat.”

“But I believe the present leadership has taken concrete steps in resolving it, and the Anambrarians here are willing to accept the steps they have taken.”

Also speaking, Dr Alex Obiogbolu, said the meeting has resolved to win the governorship election just as the party won the recent Senatorial re-run election in Osun state.

He said: “We all in one accord agreed that we must win that election.”

“We had crisis in Anambra state party but one unique thing today is that the meeting was short and productive and without much rancour as it used to be in the past.”

In his remarks, Oseloka Obazee, observed: “The meeting gave us clear guidance on where we are going. And we agreed on modalities towards making sure that by November 18 the party will win Anambra governorship election.”

Before going into closed door, the Secretary of the NCC, Senator Ben Obi had disclosed that the committee summoned the meeting because it thought it necessary to interact with the Anambra state party stakeholders in order to stir the party in the right direction.

While noting that the meeting was the first one since the landmark Supreme Court judgment which reinstated the NCC to office, he said the Anambra election would be a litmus test for the new-found unity of the PDP.

“Anambra state will become the first litmus test for the PDP to display its unity and togetherness before Nigerians,” he stated.
